New Look 6232

another item for the Mini Wardrobe contest. This is the third time I have used this pattern and now consider it to be TNT. The fabric is chambray. I did a narrow shoulder adjustment on this pattern but it was a different process than normal since there is a yoke and the shoulder falls within the yoke. I wasn't sure how to go about it but what I did seemed to work well.

I split the yoke at the point marked on the yoke pattern for the shoulder. I then lightly taped the yoke piece to the front and back. I marked my line form the shoulder point to just below the armhole. I then marked a second line perpendicular to it from just under the armhole to meet the other line. I split the pattern piece to that point leaving about 1/4 inch uncut. I overlapped at the shoulder point by 1/4 inch removing a total of 1/2 inch. I taped this and then removed the tape where the yoke pattern is taped to the front and the back. the yoke pattern looks a little funny but the finished shirt fit well.

Simplicity Sew Simple 1523

This to is also for the Mini Wardrobe contest over at Pattern Review. It is a cowl neck top made from interlock knit that has been in my stash for a long time.
One thing that I have found regarding these Sew Simple patterns is that they run large. I made one size smaller than I usually make and it seemed to work just fine.

Butterick 5682

These jeans are made from chocolate brown twill from Joann's. This is the 4th time I have used this pattern and consider it to be TNT at this point. I have done a sway back adjustment.

Mini Wardrobe Contest

I have never joined a contest before so I'm a little surprised that I did. After recently losing some weight I need new clothes for fall and winter. Pattern Review frequently has contests so when the one for the month of September was to sew a mini wardrobe I thought why not? I knew it would help motivate me.
The goal of the contest is to sew 4 garments and those 4 garments are to combine to make 4 outfits.
Some of the ladies have made storyboards and I tried but had difficulty figuring that out and it isn't required so I decided I would learn that and do it later.

The plan that I came up with was this:
Butterick 5682--chocolate brown slim leg jeans
New Look 6232-- chambray button down shirt
Simplicity Sew Simple 1523--green interlock knit top
New Look 6843-- tan corduroy skirt

I have my garments made but I'm still unsure of the skirt and may want to replace it so I haven't reviewed it yet.

I made a top from this pattern from a chiffon type fabric and liked it a lot. Normally this isn't a fabric that I would have considered but knew right away what I wanted to make from it.

I've tried a few of these Sew Simple patterns and each one seems to run large so I used a size smaller and it worked great.

The fabric is a sort of sweater look to it with a polyester backing. Not exactly sure what it is but it is drapy. The pattern has an opening at the front neck and a facing . I omitted that and did a serged edge and then turned under and hand stitched. I serged around the hem edge and left it serged.

New Look 6232 -- White Version

This is another of New Look 6232. The fabric I used is Kona cotton. I wanted a fabric that would be opaque enough that I wouldn't need a cami. I'm not sure that I succeeded with that but I do like the Kona cotton.
