Sweet Little Daygown

A sweet co-worker is expecting her first baby so I made her a little daygown. The pattern is Creations by Michie Pleated Daygown.

The fabric is a pale blue imperial broadcloth. The embroidery I traced using a smocking plate as a guide.

The picture didn't turn out very good. The sun was so bright and i had already given her the gown before I downloaded the picture.

Is it a little sailboat that you embroidered? It looks just beautiful. What length of elastic do you put in the bottoms of the daygowns for newborn sizes?

Thank you ,Laura. I don't measure the elastic-- I just pull it til it looks good then I cut it. I guess that it's not very accurate sewing...

Judy, I clicked on the photo twice & it enlarged beautifully so I could see details. You did a great job on this wonderful gift! The little sailboat is darling & I just know the Mommy appreciated your thoughtfulness. :D

fondly,
Rett

The daygown is beautiful! I am sure that the new mommy just loved it. I like the idea of the elastic at the bottom. I must try that sometime.
